South Wales Central MS Andrew RT Davies has described the proposed closure of the NatWest branch in Penarth as a “bitter blow”.

Under plans announced recently, the branch is set to close in September.

Mr Davies said many local businesses and vulnerable residents rely on the services provided in branch.

And he has contacted company bosses to express concerns.

He has requested a meeting to discuss the closure, and the impacts it will have on the town.

Mr Davies said, “Bank branches provide vital services for many, including local businesses and many vulnerable residents.

“It’s a significant blow for Penarth that NatWest have announced plans to close their branch in the town.

“Many people will lose out if this closure goes ahead.

“I’ve therefore contacted NatWest bosses to express my concerns.

“I’ve requested an urgent meeting and I hope they can be persuaded to reverse this decision.”
