South Wales Central MS and Former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies has expressed deep concern at news that up to 300 jobs are at risk at Dow’s Barry site over the next three to four years.

The site has long been a cornerstone of high-skilled employment in the Vale of Glamorgan, and the proposed job losses would represent a significant economic setback for the area.

Mr Davies said:

“This is a hammer blow to Barry – these are good quality jobs, and our community can’t afford to lose them.

“Yet again, British workers are being undercut by cheap Chinese competition.

“I’m urging the company to think again and do right by the loyal workforce who’ve built this site’s success.”
