South Wales Central Senedd Member Andrew RT Davies has slammed Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, after it ignored constituents’ concerns and pressed ahead with plans to give new Senedd constituencies Welsh language-only names.
Mr Davies said:
“Most Welsh people are English-only speakers, and these constituency names will disenfranchise them.
“Many of my Vale of Glamorgan constituents told the Commission they do not recognise the proposed “Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg” constituency name and asked them to use both languages to reflect the fact Wales is bilingual.
“It is disgraceful that out of touch bureaucrats have ignored their concerns.”
