WELSH GOVERNMENT HASN’T ACCEPTED SUPPORT FOR FLOODING
Responding to the First Minister’s failure to accept additional support from the UK Government for Welsh communities worst hit by flooding, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives said:
“I am astonished that the First Minister is seemingly letting pride supersede common sense.
“These devastating floods have restricted travel and damaged livelihoods. We need all the support available to be grasped rapidly.
“On behalf of the people of Wales, but in particular my constituents that have been battered by these floods, we say: release the additional funding so that we can begin to repair and rebuild.”

Notes to editors: The UK Government’s Environment Secretary, Steve Reed said, with reference to a conversation between the Prime Minister and the First Minister, that the UK Government has offered “additional support if they need it in Wales”, but that “So far, they [the First Minister/Welsh Government] haven’t said that they need that.”
