South Wales Central MS and former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies has written to the Senedd’s Presiding Officer urging that the building be lit in red, white and blue to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
Mr Davies said the commemorations on 6th, 7th and 8th May are an opportunity for the Senedd to join the rest of the country in paying tribute to the extraordinary sacrifice made by those who served to secure our freedom.
Lighting the building in the colours of the Union Flag would, he said, send a powerful message of national unity and remembrance.
Mr Davies said:
“This is a moment for the whole British nation to come together in gratitude and respect.
“Lighting the Senedd in the Union Flag colours of red, white and blue will show that we remember those who gave everything for our freedom.
“It’s a simple but powerful way to send a message of national unity and remembrance.”
