Andrew RT Davies has today called for greater action on anaphylaxis in Wales.

He is proposing that ministers legislate to require all:

  • Children to be taught about food allergies.
  • Teachers to receive training on how to spot anaphylactic reactions
  • Teachers to receive training on how to administer adrenaline with an EpiPen.

Commenting, Andrew RT Davies MS said:

“Peanut and other food allergies are very common among children, but awareness of anaphylaxis is sadly lacking.

“I’m calling for the Welsh Government to introduce a legal duty on schools to teach children about food allergies.

“I’m also calling for teachers to be trained to spot when somebody is having a reaction and to receive EpiPen training so they can administer adrenaline safely.

“Something so simple could save lives.”
