South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has welcomed the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s car parking charges climbdown.
A council statement has confirmed charges will be suspended at Penarth Cliff Walk, Cold Knap and Bron-Y-Mor.
Local businesses had reported a 40% drop in sales since the charges were introduced.
The Council’s Cabinet will meet on Thursday 4th December to ratify the decision.
Mr Davies said:
“This U-turn would not have been required if the Council had used common sense in the first place.
“These charges were devastating for local businesses, with some reporting a 40% drop in sales.
“Whether it’s imposing unpopular car parking charges, or making the Vale a County of Sanctuary for asylum seekers, this Council constantly fails to listen to the public.”
