South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has paid tribute to emergency services who attended to a devastating fire at Penarth RFC.

Four fire engines turned up at the incident at the Club’s clubhouse, in which much historic memorabilia was lost.

Firefighters managed to stop the fire before the Club’s historic stand burned down.

As well as praising those who attended the scene for their bravery, Mr Davies said attention must now turn to helping the Club recover from the incident.

Mr Davies said:

“Every day, our firefighters put themselves at risk to keep us save.

“Their bravery ensured no one was hurt in this incident – and the whole community is exceptionally grateful to them.

“This incident is devastating for Penarth and we must support the Club recover from its effects.”
