Commenting on the latest release from the UK Covid Inquiry, South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has repeated his calls for a Wales-specific inquiry.

The report found that, in autumn 2020, Wales had the highest death rate in Britain.

Mr Davies said Senedd ministers’ refusal to hold a Wales-specific inquiry was a “shameful attempt to avoid accountability”.

Mr Davies said:

“Senedd ministers were in charge of the pandemic response in Wales.

“It’s no surprise they’ve refused to hold a Wales-specific inquiry.

“Under their leadership, Wales had the highest death rate in Britain.”
