Commenting on demands from Plaid Cymru separatists for policing to be devolved to Wales, South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has said the call “reveals the separatists’ salami slice strategy to achieving Welsh independence”.

The separatists’ leader Rhun ap Iorwerth had previously ruled out bringing forward a plan for Welsh independence in the first term of a Plaid administration – a pledge Mr Davies said is “not worth the paper it’s written on”.

Mr Davies said:

“Plaid Cymru separatists’ calls to devolve policing to the Senedd reveal their strategy to salami slice our union out of existence.

“When Plaid say they’ve put independence on the back burner, they’re lying.

“This demand is part of Plaid’s plan to create ever more separation from the rest of Britain and must be resisted at all costs.”
