South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has hailed Wales hosting Euro 2028 as a “huge economic opportunity the Vale must take”.

The opening fixture of the 2028 European football championships will be one of six hosted at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium – which Mr Davies said would be a huge boost to Vale businesses.

Mr Davies said the opportunity existed to bring many new visitors to the Vale, who will bring money to the local economy.

He said the Vale Council must pull out all the stops to ensure the benefits are maximised and the tournament leaves a “long lasting positive legacy for the area.”

Mr Davies said:

“Euro 2028 brings huge economic opportunities for the Vale – with six fixtures taking place in Cardiff.

“A huge number of visitors will be descending on South Wales – the potential benefits for Vale businesses are significant.

“The Vale of Glamorgan Council is responsible for economic development – and it must seize this opportunity to ensure the area leaves a lasting legacy for our area.”
