Commenting on this morning’s speech by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, in which she refused to rule out raising taxes on working people, South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has slammed the government for its economic failure.

Mr Davies said such tax rises would place huge pressures on hard working people across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Mr Davies said:

“Whether it’s Plaid and Labour in the Senedd, Lis Burnett in the Vale of Glamorgan Council or Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves in Downing Street, irresponsible budget management has consequences.

“The Chancellor refused to rule out raising taxes on working people this morning, a move that would have devastating consequence for Vale families.

“These are politicians’ failing and it’s unfair Vale residents face paying the price.”
