South Wales Central MS and Former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies has slammed Labour Senedd ministers’ failure to publish an impact assessment in relation to their revised Sustainable Farming Scheme.

The impact assessment regarding the previous scheme revealed the serious damage it would cause – seeing Wales lose 5,000 farmers, 100,000 cattle and nearly a million sheep.

Mr Davies said:

“Serious failings in Labour and Plaid’s previous Sustainable Farming Scheme were exposed by its impact assessment.

“It revealed Wales would lose 5,000 farmers, over 100,000 cattle and nearly a million sheep.

“We need assurances there will not be devastating consequences from this revised scheme – yet Senedd ministers won’t publish an impact assessment. This obviously leads us to ask why.”
