South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has demanded Labour Senedd ministers “get a grip” of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, after it escalated to level four special measures.

In a statement, Health Minister Jeremy Miles admitted the health board now has the second largest number of patients waiting over two years for treatment, a situation Mr Davies said was “unacceptable”.

Mr Davies said:

“It’s completely unacceptable the Health Board now has the second largest number of patients waiting over two years for treatment – this is not something residents of the Vale of Glamorgan or Cardiff should have to put up with.

“It’s not surprising this escalation was required – there have been many unacceptable incidents at this scandal ridden health board including criminal activity and pigeons flying around operating theatres.

“Labour Senedd ministers must get a grip urgently and sort it out.”
