South Wales Central MS Andrew RT Davies has demanded the Vale of Glamorgan Council takes action to tackle uncut verges across the county.
Mr Davies pointed out the verges posed a considerable safety risk at junctions, with uncut grass and hedges impeding drivers’ visibility severely.
He said that the Council had previously indicated grass was left uncut for sustained periods on environmental grounds, as part of its efforts to meet net zero targets.
He warned this must not come at the expense of road safety, and called on the Council to take urgent action to ensure all danger spots were addressed.
Mr Davies said:
“Overgrown verges pose a considerable risk to road safety, and uncut grass and hedges impede drivers’ views.
“It’s unacceptable Labour councillors are not keeping on top of their responsibilities, they must not sacrifice road safety at the altar of ideological net zero zealotry.
“Urgent action is required to ensure all junctions across the Vale are made safe.”
