South Wales Central MS and former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies has slammed Labour Senedd ministers’ failure to provide data to the National Audit on Group-Based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

In her report, Baroness Casey confirmed data was sought from both the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the Government of Wales on how many cases of child sexual abuse or exploitation they see in health services.

The Audit was only able to obtain data from Sexual Assault Referral Centres (England).

Mr Davies said:

“This will inevitably raise suspicions of a cover up.

“It is deeply concerning to learn this data was not provided – if it is not collected we must ask why.

“There are serious questions for Senedd ministers to answer.”
